Traverse Bay
Traverse Bay is the home to the newest boat launch which provides access to the Winnipeg River when Lake Winnipeg is too windy for boating.
Technically not part of Lake Winnipeg, Traverse Bay sits on the mouth of the Winnipeg River where it flows into the lake between Elk Island and Devil’s Island. Traverse Bay lends its name to a vast part of the northeastern beaches area. It can be accessed by turning right off Hwy 59 at Traverse Bay Corner onto Hwy 11 to Traverse Bay Road N or travel a little further on Hwy 59 to Hillside Road E. There is an abundance of cottage rental options along the bay and be sure to catch one of the amazing sunrises over the sand cliffs.
