Marketing and Event Assistant

Beaches of 59 is a not-for-profit committee of volunteers formed to promote tourism in the Eastern Beaches of Lake Winnipeg from Brokenhead to Elk Island. Beaches of 59 is supported by the RM of St Clements, RM of Alexander and Brokenhead Ojibway Nations. We are looking for two dynamic, creative, and highly motivated individuals to join our team as Marketing and Event Assistants. This role will involve assisting with our Ambassador Program, creating exciting and engaging travel itineraries for the Beaches of 59 area, planning and executing summer events, and securing sponsorships and prize donations for events. The ideal candidate will be passionate about local tourism, have excellent communication and organizational skills, and be comfortable working with local businesses and organizations. We will be hiring a North Marketing and Event Assistant and a South Marketing and Event Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

Itinerary Creation & Promotion:

  • Develop curated itineraries showcasing the best of the Beaches of 59 area, tailored to different types of visitors (families, adventure seekers, foodies, seniors, etc.).

  • Create blog posts that are engaging about activities, amenities, wildlife or nature in the Beaches of 59. 

Photography & Videography:

  • Capture photos and videos of the Beaches of 59 area, events, and ambassador activities.

Event Sponsorship & Prize Donation:

  • Secure event sponsorships and prize donations from local businesses and organizations

  • Build and maintain relationships with event sponsors and ensure they are recognized at events and through promotional channels.

The Amazing Beaches of 59 Race:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of the Amazing Beaches of 59 Race event

  • Coordinate logistics for the event, including team registrations, volunteers, and sponsors 

  • Provide clear communication with all parties to execute a seamless event

Event Representation & Group Hikes:

  • Represent Beaches of 59 at local and regional events, markets, festivals, and tradeshows.

  • Lead and guide group fishing, hikes, bikes, and/or paddles (depending on your favourite activities), providing a fun, engaging, and safe outdoor experience for visitors and locals alike.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning activities and working with the public. 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in photography and videography, ability to edit and create content for social media.

  • A passion for the outdoors and ability to lead group hikes in various weather conditions.

  • Comfortable reaching out to local organizations and businesses for sponsorships

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of the Beaches of 59 area

Hours of work

This is a remote position. Candidates must have access to their own vehicle, laptop and mobile phone. Candidates must reside in the Beaches of 59 area (between Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and Victoria Beach) over the summer. The candidate must qualify for the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and work 30 to 35 hours a week, availability on weekends is required (a flexible work schedule is available). This is a 8 week to 16 week term from May - August.
