More Than a Campground: The Heart of Base Camp 59

If you’ve ever rolled into Base Camp 59 and ‘put it into Park’ on a sunny Friday afternoon, there’s a good chance you’ve been greeted by the sounds of a quiet breeze, the smell of someone’s campfire cooking up something tasty, or seen one of us lounging in those iconic bright red chairs by the Tuck Shop, sipping something cold and waving at passing bikes. Around here, we lead with heart, and community is always at the centre of the campfire circle.

Being a part of the Beaches of 59 crew has only deepened our roots in this beautiful stretch of Manitoba’s lakeside magic. It’s shown us, time and again, that when neighbours come together, really cool things happen.

Over the past couple of seasons, we’ve had the absolute joy of sponsoring not one, but two Amazing Races—and even got to host one ourselves! There’s nothing quite like watching folks zip through the campground, clues in hand, solving riddles, cheering each other on, and letting their competitive spirit shine (with plenty of laughter along the way). These kinds of joyful, come-as-you-are moments? That’s the good stuff. That’s Base Camp.

The Amazing Beaches of 59 Race 2024

Amazing Race challenge stop at Base Camp 59.

We’ve also teamed up with our pals at Saffies, so campers don’t have to venture far for weekend essentials. Pancake mix? Check. Marshmallows? Of course. That bag of chips someone definitely forgot? You bet. Thanks to this partnership, we’re keeping things simple, local, and delicious—just how we like it.

Right next door, we’re lucky to share the block with the awesome crew at the Birchwood Hotel and Motor Inn and the friendly team at Grand Pines Golf! It’s not just neighbourly love—we’re always pointing campers and golfers their way. Thursday night ribs and 18 gorgeous greens – yes, every time!

And when we’re not soaking in Base Camp vibes or strolling down to the water, we love running into our friends at Spirit Rock Cafe. It’s where updates are swapped, plans are hatched, and coffee is sipped slowly. These spontaneous catch-ups remind us why this community feels more like a big, friendly extended family. Plus, every single bit of building, fixing, and dreaming we do at Base Camp is powered by local contractors and service providers who have helped build this dream. Because investing in your people? That’s how you keep the good energy flowing.

As we look ahead to 2025, we’ve got some big news: Base Camp 59 is fully leased for the season! (Pause for happy dance.) The support has been incredible, and we’re so grateful for our growing camp fam. We’ve officially kicked off a waitlist for 2026, so if you’ve been dreaming of joining the Base Camp crew or hoping to attract friends to the area, now’s the time to toss your name in the hat!

Oh—and did we mention? Our pool opens this summer. That’s right. Whether you’re looking to dip your toes after a trail trek, float the afternoon away, or park it poolside with your favourite drink and your favourite people, we’ve got you. It’s just one more way we’re making Base Camp your go-to summer home-away-from-home.

And if you’re more into cooler days and cozy moments, we’ve still got you. Picture this: a chilly fall morning, steam rising from the sauna, the soft crunch of leaves underfoot, and trails that twist and turn through pine and birch forests, alive with birdsong and critter chatter. Whether you're here for the calm, the connection, or the community, we're always ready to welcome you.

Because Base Camp 59 is more than a campground. It’s a vibe. It’s a throwback to simpler times, when you could walk into a little candy shop with change in your fist and leave with a grin on your face. It’s where memories are made, friendships are sparked, and time slows down just enough to really feel it all.

So whether you’re a longtime camper, a curious traveler, or a fellow Beaches of 59 biz looking to connect—come hang out with us. Say hi. Stay awhile. Be part of the story we’re building, together.

With sunshine and gratitude,

The Basecamp59 Team
