Grand Beach was settled by Métis homesteaders, which was until 1917 when the Canadian National Railway built its rail line and opted to set up a resort along the beach.

Being one of the top beaches in North America, Grand Beach is a provincial park so a park pass or day pass is required when visiting. It is well known for its beautiful white sand beaches and famous board walk with its chip stands and bustling shops, which are a must for any visitor. You can find powdery white sand beaches and grass-topped dunes that reach as high as 8 m/30 ft.

West Grand Beach is a designated Blue Flag destination. It is a distinct honour in that it is a world-renowned eco-certification, which assures the beach is clean, meets high safety standards for both the water quality and environment.

This area provides an excellent place to swim, windsurf, hike, and has two excellent self-guiding walks: Spirit Rock Trail and the Ancient Beach Trail.

The Park also features an outdoor amphitheatre, picnic shelters, a restaurant, concession services, change rooms, indoor showers, and wheelchair access to the beach.
